We are seeking a skilled Upholstery and Canvas Tailor to join our Gull Boats & RV team in Missoula, MT. In this hands-on role, you will design, fabricate, and repair custom marine canvas and boat upholstery products including boat covers, bimini tops, enclosures, marine seating, and protective fabric systems. This position is ideal for candidates with experience in industrial sewing, upholstery, canvas fabrication, marine interiors, automotive upholstery, or furniture upholstery who take pride in precision craftsmanship and durable, high-quality work. We welcome candidates with experience in upholstery, industrial sewing, awning fabrication, furniture production, automotive interiors, or other hands-on fabrication trades.

Responsibilities:

• Measure boats and marine equipment to create accurate templates and patterns

• Design and fabricate custom marine canvas and upholstery products including covers, tops, curtains, cushions, and seating

• Cut, sew, and assemble materials using industrial sewing machines and fabrication tools

• Install finished products on boats, including hardware such as snaps, zippers, and fasteners

• Perform repairs, alterations, and restorations on existing canvas and upholstery products

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment

• Collaborate with customers to review design options and functional requirements

• Ensure high-quality workmanship and customer satisfaction

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in canvas fabrication, upholstery, industrial sewing, or related skilled trades preferred

• Ability to operate industrial sewing machines and hand tools

• Strong measuring, layout, and basic math skills

• Attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship

• Ability to lift and maneuver large fabric materials

• Strong problem-solving and communication skills

• Valid driver’s license for occasional on-site measurements or installations

Schedule:

• Monday-Friday

• 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM

Compensation:

• $22.00 - $25.00 per hour

About Our Dealership
Gull Boats & RV in Missoula, MT, was started in 1941 by Bob Anderson Sr., but back then, it was called Gull Boats. Bob Sr. began by manufacturing boats, out of an incredible new-fangled material called fiberglass, in his parent's garage, where the Depot Deck is currently located. In those days, it was unheard of to be a landlocked boat manufacturer. Despite this (or because of it), his boats became a huge success. Soon, Gull's dealer network spread to Florida. Word of the quality of his boats was spreading. In the mid-'70s, three of Bob Anderson's sons, Bob Jr., Denny, and Mike, took over after working there during their youth. As the business grew, the boys moved down the road into a new larger location and continued to expand the business. RVs were added 20 years ago, and things have been rocking & rolling ever since.
